Don’t tell me to smile… What do we owe our children?

Poor Rachel Canning has eliminated her ability to truly live for the remainder of her days and set in motion a few key decisions that may well affect all parents everywhere. Rachel felt that her parents were obligated to allow her to do as she pleased after she turned 18 and then support her. This typical sheep model has become prevalent in todays society as we see more and more parents trying to give their children what “they did not have” and ensuring a race of adults who have no concept of value. Value is an interesting theory as somewhere the value of earning a car, an education, a home, a phone, or a variety of other items has apparently been lost. Is it really that hard to imagine a world where people actually are responsible for their debt, their actions, and their lives?

In reality, what real business will now hire Rachel, since she tried to take something that was not hers, and felt justified in breaking her parents. This is the person who will eventually sue for almost anything. cause issues in the workplace, and generally a poor working environment. What was she thinking? Is this her idea or the idea of an overzealous lawyer who should never get another client again?

Perhaps the ruling of this judge will pave a way to avoid future sheep, but it is a hard call. Trying to understand, but it is tough to think like a sheep.
