It is rare to find a decent story on guns and violence these days as both sides of the media are as split as people seem to be. The consistent rants of gun control advocates who usually have no better chance of understanding a gun and most likely have never shot one, handled one, or been in a situation where they needed one are a constant reminder of what fear can do to sheep. However, on the other side of the coin you have the consistent rants by pseudo gun nuts who think we should have 105mm cannons in our back yard to keep the mosquitos away. So who is right? I have personal opinions on both sides since I am an avid shooter, and a person who would rather avoid violence most of the time. So lets look at some real viewpoints.
The St Louis Post Dispatch has a nice article here that really does not take sides, or does it. We have super harsh gun control laws in Chicago, but it appears Chicago is a battleground, perhaps proving that more laws make people less safe. Hold on there cowboy, Chicago is only 30 or so minutes from Indiana, where it may be a little easier to deal with getting a weapon. But if you look at Indiana’s laws, not as likely.
As usual, Forbes gives us a view that the NRA is winning, but who is really winning? Is it the NRA, or is it the gun owners the NRA represents?
In reality the people who are not sheep may understand that even in the best case, (In the Colorado shooting where it was minutes before police arrived) the sheep will mostly likely be bagged by those sent to protect them without a weapon. An interesting thought to be sure, but if you look at reality and start looking at the news as what it is, I think everyone can see this.
For a good article on everything check here, and read the comments, they follow both sides of the silliness.
Trying to stay neutrally thinking…..but it is hard to think like a sheep…
